Recipe To Fight Hunger

Normally, I would be posting a beverage recipe for Halloween.

As an American, I'm concerned about our neighbors and fellow citizens. 

1 in 6 Americans go hungry, have food, beverage insecurity. 

Because of the government shutdown many are concerned their SNAP benefits will expire and where their next meal will be coming from.

On this site are links to organizations that are working to eradicate hunger. 

By getting involved you are helping others.

You can also find a local food bank or charity and donate there too.

Big Game Strawberry Lemonade

This is perfect for your game watching get together, Galentines Day, Valentines Day or anytime.  4 - 6 oz. vodka 2 - 3 c. lemonade 6 strawberries  Ice 1 T. grenadine Rinse, remove ends from and with a clean knife make a slit in 4 of the strawberries. In a clean jar, combine vodka & 1 - 2 strawberries.  Screw lid on jar, shake jar, place jar in refrigerator to infuse for a few hours.  To serve: Remove vodka jar from fridge. In the bottom of 4 clean glasses, place ice. Through a strainer, pour vodka into glasses. Top off with lemonade. Drizzle some grenadine into glasses. Garnish glass with remaining strawberries. Serves 4.

Be Thankful Mule

  This is perfect for Thanksgiving, fall or anytime. I used pure maple syrup for this recipe. 4 - 6 oz. bourbon 2 - 3 c. cider 2 T.  each: brown sugar, pure maple syrup pinch cinnamon  Ice Drizzle some maple syrup & brown sugar on 2 clean plates. For each cocktail: Place a glass upside down in the syrup, the brown sugar to coat glasses.  Place glass in freezer to chill for a few minutes. In a cocktail shaker combine ice, brown sugar, cinnamon, syrup and bourbon.  Add some of the cider, put lid on shaker and shake for a few seconds.  Remove glass from freezer, remove lid from shaker and strain cocktail in glass.  Serves 4.

So Easy Hurricanes

This is a family friendly version that’s perfect for Mardi Gras or anytime. 4 - 6 oz. each: passion fruit juice, pineapple juice 1 c. orange juice Ice 2 T. grenadine  For each hurricane: In a cocktail shaker combine ice, some of the passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, orange juice.  Put lid on shaker and shake for a few seconds. Put ice in the bottom of a clean hurricane glass and pour cocktail over glass.  Drizzle some grenadine into cocktail. Serves 4.
