Hot Buttered Rum

 Happy National Butter Rum Day all!

This is perfect for a Michigan winter or anytime.


4 - 6 oz. dark rum

1/2 - 1 T. each: butter, brown sugar

1 tsp. vanilla extract 

2 - 3 c. hot tea

Fill tea kettle with cold water and bring water to boil.

Turn stove off, very carefully remove lid from kettle and place two tea bags in kettle. 

Put lid back on tea kettle and let tea steep for a few minutes.

While tea's steeping, spoon some sugar, rum, butter, vanilla extract in the bottom of 4 clean coffee mugs.

Pour tea into the cups and stir with a clean spoon.

Serves 4.

So Easy Hurricanes

This is a family friendly version that’s perfect for Mardi Gras or anytime. 4 - 6 oz. each: passion fruit juice, pineapple juice 1 c. orange juice Ice 2 T. grenadine  For each hurricane: In a cocktail shaker combine ice, some of the passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, orange juice.  Put lid on shaker and shake for a few seconds. Put ice in the bottom of a clean hurricane glass and pour cocktail over glass.  Drizzle some grenadine into cocktail. Serves 4.

Lucky Leprechaun Spritz

This is perfect for St. Patricks’ Day, watching March Madness or anytime. 4 - 6 oz. whiskey 4 c. lemon lime soda Ice  green food coloring  Place 4 clean glasses in freezer to chill for a few minutes. To serve: Remove glasses from freezer. Place ice in bottom of glasses. Squeeze 1 - 2 drops of food coloring in glasses. Add whiskey to glasses, top off each glass with lemon lime soda.  Stir with a clean straw to mix.  Serves 4.
