Candy Bar Milkshake

This is great for using leftover Halloween candy or anytime.  I’ve used mini candy bars for this, but you can use your favorite candy bar too. If using a full size candy bar, make sure to break it apart before putting it in the blender. 1 - 1  1/2 c skim or low fat milk 6 - 8 mini candy bars 1  - 2 c ice cream Combine: milk, candy bars,  ice cream into blender.  Blend  well for 20 sec. Serves 4

Hot As Hades Martini

This is perfect for Halloween, movie night or anytime. I’ve used a jalapeño pepper but you can use a poblano pepper or mild pepper instead. 1 jalapeño pepper 4 - 6 oz. tequila 1 - 2 oz. dry vermouth  squeeze of lime  ice  Red food coloring  salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, tajin Rinse, seed, remove membrane from and cut pepper into pieces. Combine tequila and some of the pepper in a clean small jar.  Place lid on jar, place in refrigerator until ready to serve. With a wet napkin, wet the rims of 4 martini glasses.  Sprinkle salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, Tajin on a shallow dish.  Place the glasses rim side down on the dish to coat. Place the glasses in the freezer to chill for a few minutes.  For each cocktail: In a cocktail shaker combine: tequila, ice, lime juice, couple of drops food coloring, vermouth.  Shake for a few seconds to mix.  Remove glasses from freezer, strain martini into glasses.  Thread some of the cut jalepeno through toothpicks. Garnish martinis with the jalapeño.

Autumn Iced Coffee

You don't have to spend much to get a great cup of iced coffee. This is perfect for fall mornings or anytime. 3 - 4 c. brewed coffee 2 T. caramel sauce  1/4 c. heavy cream  1/8 - 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 - 2 T. brown sugar Ice Brew coffee according to coffee maker instructions.  Drizzle caramel sauce in the bottom of 4 clean glasses.  Spoon desired amount of cream, cinnamon and sugar in the bottom of glasses. Pour coffee in glasses and stir with a clean straw.  Add desired amount of ice to glasses. Serves 4.

Reginatini

Today’s October 3rd, also known as Mean Girls day. You don’t have to wear pink on Wednesdays to enjoy this. It’s so fetch for movie night, girls night or anytime. 1 - 2 c. cranberry juice cocktail 4 - 6 oz. Tequila 1 - 2 T. each: triple sec,  fresh lemon juice Put martini glasses in freezer to chill for a few minutes. Put lemon juice,  tequila, ice, triple sec, cranberry juice into shaker, shake well. Take glasses out of freezer.  Strain cocktail into glasses. Garnish with lime wedges.  Serves 4.

Summer’s Over Sunset Cooler

This is the last full week of summer.  Fall begins on Sunday. This is a perfect way to beat the heat, tailgating or anytime. 2 - 3 c. each: orange juice, ginger beer Ice  1 - 2 T. grenadine Place 4 clean glasses in freezer for a few minute. For each drink: Remove glasses from freezer. Place ice in the bottom of each glass.  Pour orange juice over ice. Top juice off with ginger beer. Drizzle grenadine into glass over the back of a clean spoon. Serves 4.

Sangrerita

This is perfect to enjoy during the last few weeks of summer, tailgating, game night, girls night, a get together or anytime. 1 bottle dry red wine 1/2 c. each: tequila, sliced cherries, sliced strawberries 1/8 c. triple sec 1 - 2 tangerines  1/8 - 1/3 c. sugar (regular or sugar free) Rinse strawberries and cherries in a strainer.  Remove pit from cherries and cut in half, set aside.  Remove tops from strawberries and cut some of the berries into slices.  Set aside 4 strawberries and cut 1 small slit into them for garnish.  Peel, section tangerines.  In a pitcher, place the berries, cherries, tangerines, tequila, triple sec., sugar and ice. With the back of clean wooden spoon, gently muddle fruit, sugar, liquor together. Pour wine over fruit, mix with the wooden spoon. Put in fridge to chill until you're ready to serve. To serve: pour wine in a clean glass.  Garnish glass with a strawberry. Serves 4.

Raspberry Lemonade

This is perfect for summer or anytime. 1 c. - 1  1/2 c. fresh lemon juice (2 - 4 large lemons) 1/4 - 1/3 c. sugar 4 c. cold water 1/3 - 1/2 c. raspberries  Ice Cut lemons in half.  Put halved lemon in microwave for 10 sec.  Put ice into bottom of a clean pitcher. I've used an electric citrus juicer, but you can squeeze juice through sieve with your hands or citrus squeezer  into pitcher. Fill  a clean pot with cold water, and place on the stove.  Bring pot to a boil. Lower heat, add sugar and raspberries. Stir until sugar is dissolved with a  wooden spoon and let cool for a few minutes. Pour cooled syrup through a sieve into pitcher and stir to mix. Place pitcher in refrigerator until ready to serve. Serves 6 - 8.
