Wildcard Spritz

The NFL playoffs start this weekend & it’s wildcard weekend. Go Lions! This is perfect for watching your favorite team,  brunch, tailgating or anytime. I’ve used dark rum, but you can omit alcohol too, if preferred.  1 c. each: pineapple juice, orange juice,  club soda 1 - 2 T. grenadine  Ice 4 - 6 oz. rum Place 4 clean glasses in freezer to chill for a few minutes. In the bottom of a clean pitcher, place ice. Add rum to ice. Add pineapple juice, orange juice, stir to mix. Drizzle grenadine in pitcher, place pitcher in refrigerator to chill until ready to serve. To serve: Remove glasses from freezer.  Pour cocktail into glasses.  Top glasses off with club soda. Serves 4.

Off To Oz Cooler

This is perfect for movie day, a holiday brunch, or anytime. 1 c. each: cranberry juice, pineapple juice 2 c. orange juice  Ice In a clean blender combine ingredients, blend for 30 sec. or until blended.  Pour into 4 clean glasses. Serves 4.

Bleu Cheese Dirty Martini

This is perfect for celebrating the holidays or anytime. I’ve used gin, this also works well with vodka too. 4 - 6 oz. gin or vodka 1 - 2 oz. each: olive brine, vermouth, bleu cheese Ice 8 olives  Combine gin, bleu cheese in a clean jar, place lid on jar and put in fridge to infuse for a few hours. Put 4 clean martini glasses in freezer to chill for a few minutes. Put two olives and some bleu cheese on 4 toothpicks, set aside. When ready to serve remove alcohol from fridge. Combine ice, vermouth, gin, olive juice in a clean cocktail shaker.  Put lid on shaker and shake for a few seconds. Remove glasses from freezer. Strain martini into glasses.  Garnish with the olives and bleu cheese.  Serves 4.

Be Thankful Mule

  This is perfect for Thanksgiving, fall or anytime. I used pure maple syrup for this recipe. 4 - 6 oz. bourbon 2 - 3 c. cider 2 T.  each: brown sugar, pure maple syrup pinch cinnamon  Ice Drizzle some maple syrup & brown sugar on 2 clean plates. For each cocktail: Place a glass upside down in the syrup, the brown sugar to coat glasses.  Place glass in freezer to chill for a few minutes. In a cocktail shaker combine ice, brown sugar, cinnamon, syrup and bourbon.  Add some of the cider, put lid on shaker and shake for a few seconds.  Remove glass from freezer, remove lid from shaker and strain cocktail in glass.  Serves 4.

Candy Bar Milkshake

This is great for using leftover Halloween candy or anytime.  I’ve used mini candy bars for this, but you can use your favorite candy bar too. If using a full size candy bar, make sure to break it apart before putting it in the blender. 1 - 1  1/2 c skim or low fat milk 6 - 8 mini candy bars 1  - 2 c ice cream Combine: milk, candy bars,  ice cream into blender.  Blend  well for 20 sec. Serves 4

Hot As Hades Martini

This is perfect for Halloween, movie night or anytime. I’ve used a jalapeño pepper but you can use a poblano pepper or mild pepper instead. 1 jalapeño pepper 4 - 6 oz. tequila 1 - 2 oz. dry vermouth  squeeze of lime  ice  Red food coloring  salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, tajin Rinse, seed, remove membrane from and cut pepper into pieces. Combine tequila and some of the pepper in a clean small jar.  Place lid on jar, place in refrigerator until ready to serve. With a wet napkin, wet the rims of 4 martini glasses.  Sprinkle salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, Tajin on a shallow dish.  Place the glasses rim side down on the dish to coat. Place the glasses in the freezer to chill for a few minutes.  For each cocktail: In a cocktail shaker combine: tequila, ice, lime juice, couple of drops food coloring, vermouth.  Shake for a few seconds to mix.  Remove glasses from freezer, strain martini into glasses.  Thread some of the cut jalep...

Autumn Iced Coffee

You don't have to spend much to get a great cup of iced coffee. This is perfect for fall mornings or anytime. 3 - 4 c. brewed coffee 2 T. caramel sauce  1/4 c. heavy cream  1/8 - 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 - 2 T. brown sugar Ice Brew coffee according to coffee maker instructions.  Drizzle caramel sauce in the bottom of 4 clean glasses.  Spoon desired amount of cream, cinnamon and sugar in the bottom of glasses. Pour coffee in glasses and stir with a clean straw.  Add desired amount of ice to glasses. Serves 4.
